    Raw:

We are given a quick recap of last week’s Raw before kicking off tonight. A backstage segment between The Miz and Paul Heyman ends in Miz quiting Team Punk and leaving Heyman with a gap to fill.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara & R-Truth vs. Antonio Cesaro & The Primetime Players – A good tag team match here with some nice solid work, nothing spectacular to draw attention to but that’s not to say it’s not a good match! Enjoyable tag team work here. The faces get the victory here.

Vickie Guerrero comes out to the ring to provide further evidence against John Cena and AJ in the scandal. John Cena has some entertaining mic work here, AJ refuses to come to the ring as she says that if she does she will be fired for what she does to Vickie!

Another backstage segment where Heyman convinces Wade Barrett to join Team Punk.

Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes – A very short match with Sandow and Kane getting involved for their partners, ends in less than two minutes with Cody getting the win with Cross Rhodes. Afterwards, Cody says that Sandow could do the exact same to Kane if he wanted to, this led to the next impromtu match…

Kane vs. Damien Sandow – Given a lot more time than the previous match, this match wasn’t really anything special, just an average match at best with Kane getting the victory with the chokeslam.

Michael Cole enters the ring and brings down Brad Maddox, Maddox tries to explain why he screwed Ryback at Hell in a Cell and says that all his life he wanted to be a wrestler and to make a name for himself, he challenges Ryback to a match next week on Raw. Vince McMahon comes out to a big pop to say that if Brad can beat Ryback then he can have a million dollar contract! Vince brings out Vickie and makes her change the Survivor Series card to have Punk defend his WWE Championship against Ryback and John Cena!

Sheamus vs. The Miz – A poor match that went on for far too long, the crowd weren’t into this match and it wasn’t particularly entertaining. Big Show joined the commentary booth and Sheamus wins with the Brogue Kick.

A backstage segment reveals that Dolph Ziggler will now be the team captain going against Team Foley! Vickie announces that CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler will face John Cena and Ryback tonight! We get a promo hyping Fandango’s debut.

Divas Tag Team Match: Eve & Aksana vs. Layla & Kaitlyn – Another poor match here with the divas not showing a lot of talent at all, Kaitlyn gets the victory over Eve.

Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio – Not a bad match but again, nothing special really. From the two men involved it should have been better! Randy Orton’s music plays and distracts Del Rio while Kofi gets the quick roll up, Orton shows up and RKOs Del Rio post-match

Santino Marella & Zack Ryder vs. Primo & Epico – Another poor match that would have been more suited to Superstars, Santino tried to provide some comedic relief but it didn’t really work with the Birmingham crowd. Santino wins with the Cobra on Epico

Brodus Clay vs. Wade Barrett – A relatively short match with Wade Barrett getting the win over Brodus. The crowd were well behind Barrett here and Brodus was getting a lot of heat. This match was basically used to get Barrett on the card and get the fans more into the show. Barrett definitely got the pop of the night here!

Heath Slater vs. Jey Uso – Genuinely pointless match that did not need to be on the show, the main event should have gotten more time and this match should not have been on the card. Slater picks up the win.

CM Punk & Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena & Ryback – This was an enjoyable match with Dolph and Punk beating on Cena the majority of the match until Ryback comes in and dominates both superstars, Ryback picks up a quick victory over Punk soon after he’s tagged in

Overall Raw was very disappointing here, with ten matches on the card you could tell that it was going to be poor from the start! Matches and segments were given short amounts of time in favour of getting more talent onto TV, unfortunately this time it didn’t pay off for WWE.

    SmackDown:

SmackDown opens with Sheamus calling out Big Show after Big Show attacked him and William Regal in a local pub that week! Big Show comes on the titantron and says he’s not coming out, Barrett comes out instead and berates Sheamus before heading to the back. Booker T confronts Barrett and says later on it will be a tag team match between Barrett & Big Show and Sheamus & William Regal!

Intercontinental Championship Match: Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz – An enjoyable back and forth match between these two, good solid work that paid off with arguably the best match out of this rivalry. Kofi picked up the win with a diving cross body which seemed very sudden.

Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio vs. The Primetime Players – Another enjoyable tag team match, some nice solid work showing that speed vs. power can work and showing these two teams had a lot of chemistry and potential! Titus picks up the upset victory against Mysterio here. After the match Titus interviews Darren and Matt Striker, very entertaining segment showing that this team is very charismatic and entertaining, bright future for these guys!

A Raw recap of Vickie Guerrero showing evidence against Cena and AJ. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, SmackDown doesn’t need Raw recaps!

Wade Barrett & Big Show vs. William Regal & Sheamus – This match wasn’t as good as it really should have been, this was more of a brawl than anything else really, not a fantastic match but nothing unwatchable. Big Show picks up the win knocking out William Regal!

Yet another Raw recap of Brad Maddox challenging Ryback to a match. Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton and he says tonight he will be sick and twisted!

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio – An entertaining match with some nice spots including Orton stuffind Ricardo into a phone booth and Orton falling through a table. Not the best extreme match I’ve seen but entertaining none the less. Orton picks up the win with an RKO onto the steel steps!

This week’s SmackDown puts Raw to shame here, it shows that even though there’s only four matches on the card that it can be thoroughly entertaining and consistent throughout the night! Very good show!

    Main Event:

Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus – Definitely a highlight of this set, great match with both men showing off their best work and some nice chemistry together, the crowd were definitely into this match and were 50/50. The crowd managed to make this match even better and were loving it!

Matt Striker catches up with Big Show backstage asking about his upcoming match with Sheamus but gets a KO Punch for his troubles. Another Raw recap of Brad Maddox and his challenge.

R-Truth vs. Heath Slater – Not much to say about this match really, it average at best at not really entertaining or fun to watch.

    Superstars:

Jimmy Uso vs. Jinder Mahal – A lot better than the Uso/Slater match on Raw but still nothing really entertaining or worth watching twice, Uso wins with a beautiful diving splash.

Justin Gabriel vs. Tensai – Tensai shows some nice work here and some unique moves, dominating the majority of the match, Justin wins with the upset victory, not a bad match but an awkward finish.

    Special Features:

WWE Championship Match: Randy “Macho Man” Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior – SummerSlam 29th August, 1992 – A real classic match, this match goes on for a good thirty minutes and is definitely the best part of this DVD, some real intensity and drama that only these two men can produce! Shame about the way the match finishes but excellent work from these two none the less.

WWE Championship Match: The Rock vs. X-Pac – Capital Carnage 6th December, 1998 – Another enjoyable bonus match on this set, the crowd were well behind X-Pac here, really wanting the upset victory from him and there were definitely points in the match were it looked like it would happen! Interference from Triple H costs X-Pac the match when he gets disqualified.

    Verdict:

Overall, this set is very hard to judge, a poor episode of Raw is balanced out by an enjoyable episode of SmackDown, both Main Event and Superstars were average. There are some nice matches in these shows but they’re just not classic matches. You will enjoy watching the majority of it, but they’re not shows you will come back to watch again and again. The two bonus matches on this set is where people will really enjoy themselves here, especially the Savage/Warrior match, which is hands down the highlight of this DVD! You may consider buying this DVD for this match alone but it can be found relatively easy elsewhere on other sets. This set isn’t a fantastic set, I’m not even sure if it reaches many expectations of a good set but it is passable. My recommendation is that you should pick it up…but only if it’s cheap!
